Internationally acclaimed  tenor,  Tony Award Winner, JESUS GARCIA,  praised by the press for his <soaring vocalism> and his >dynamic stage presence>specializes in the romantic roles of the  French and Italian repertoire; such as  NADIR in Bizet's "Les Pêcheurs de Perles", with which he gave his Italy-debut at Opera di Firenze; or ALFREDO in Verdi's "La Traviata", which in 2017 led him to his debut at Opera San Diego, directed by Marta Domingo and conducted by David Agler.

Upcoming engagements include  among others, Mr. Garcia's debut in the title part of Gounod's FAUST at the Savonlinna Opera Festival, his debut as GIASONE in Cherubni's "Medea" under the baton of Jane Glower at the Opera Omaha as well as at Wexford Opera Festival, and his return to NRO as ALFREDO in Floris Visser's new La Traviata-production.

After a three-year hiatus from opera, taken in order to write and record his first song-cycle “Manifest Destiny”, which in March 2016 also had its European premiere, Jesus Garcia’s comeback to opera in 2014/15 as ALFREDO under the baton of shooting-star Lehav Shani and in stage direction of Eva Höckmayr, has begun with fervor and buzz in the opera community:

Followed up by not less successful productions as ENRICO in Donizetti’s seldom performed opera "Maria de Rudenz" under conductor Andrew Greenwood and in stage direction of Fabio Ceresa at the Wexford Opera Festival, as NADIR at the NRO and the Cerrée Theater Amsterdam, as ALFREDO under the baton of Lawrence Foster and in stage direction of Mariusz Trelinski at the  Savonlinna Opera Festival, and - on short calls - at the Staatstheater Darmstadt; as RODOLFO in Puccini's "La Boheme" in stage direction of Rosetta Cucchi and with David Angus conducting, at the Boston Lyric Opera, as well as at the Theater Magdeburg in stage direction of Artistic Director Karen Stone, and under the baton of Marcus Bosch at the Staatstheater Nürnberg  and at the Opernfestspiele Heidenheim, as well as at the Badisches Staatstheatr Karlsruhe, where Mr. Garcia also was a celebrated MACDUFF in "Macbeth"PYLADES in Gluck's "Iphigenie en Tauride" in stage direction of Arila Siegert, TEBALDO in Bellini's "I Capuleti & I Montecchi", NEMORINO in "L'Elisir d'Amore" in stage direction of Jacopo Spirei, and TITO in Mozart's "La Clemenza di Tito", conducted by Gianluca Capuano.
In addition Mr. Garcia performed Mozart’s "Requiem" with Filharmonia Arturo Toscanini conducted by Maestro Rinaldo Alessandrini. sang Opera-Gala -concerts at the Schloßfestspiel Heidelberg, and was "Special Guest" at the Opernball Oper Kiel.

In addition to the mentioned above, Mr Garcia has performed in the USA with the Arizona Opera, Boston Lyric Opera, Houston Grand Opera,  Lyric Opera of Chicago, Dallas Opera, Michigan Opera Theater, Minnesota Opera, Palm Beach Opera, Opera Company of Philadelphia,  Phoenix Opera, Spoleto Festival USA, Washington National Opera, as well as worldwide with the Staatsoper Berlin, Theater Basel, L’Opera National de Bordeaux, Théâtre de Caen, Staatsoper Hamburg, Opera Hong Kong, Grand Théâtre de le Ville de Luxembourg, L’Opéra National de Lyon, Opéra de Marseille, Opéra National de Lorraine Nancy, Opera New Zealand, Narodni Divadlo Praha, Opera Rio de Janeiro, L’Esplanade Massenet Festival St. Étienne and Opera Toulon.


His repertoire includes, in addition to the already mentioned, the parts of FENTON in Verdi's "Falstaff", ERNESTO in Donizetti's "Don Pasquale" and TONIO in "La Fille du Regiment", LYSANDER in Britten's "A Midsummer Night’s Dream", JEAN in Massenet's "Le Jongleur de Notre Dame", RODOLFO in Puccini's "La Bohéme", ALFREDO in Verdi's "La Traviata", NADIR in Bizet's "Les Pecheurs de Perles", the title role of Mozart's IDOMENEO, and FERRANDO in "Cosi fan tutte", the TENOR-part in a staged "Stabat Mater" by Rossini and Verdi's "Requiem", as well as the operetta parts of ALFRED in Johann Strauß' "Die Fledermaus" and LE BRÉSILIEN in Offenbach's "La Vie Parisienne".
Furthermore, he created the character of OVIDIO in the J. Martin's world-premier "Before Night Falls" with Ft. Worth Opera.

Besides the Tony Award for his work as Rodolfo in Baz Luhrmann’s "La Boheme"-production, Jesus Garcia is winner and prize-winner of numerous competitions including Placido Domingo’s Operalia, the MET Opera National Council Auditions, those of the George London-,  Licia Albanese, and Marquerite McCammon International Vocal Competitions, to name only a few.

Recording credits include the world premiere recording of Jorge Martin’s "Before Night Falls", the Original Broadway Cast recording of Baz Luhrmann’s "La Boheme", and the Virgin Classics DVD recording of Laurent Pelly’s production of "La Vie Parisienne".

Jesus Garcia has made several television appearances including the "Today Show", “Breakfast with the Arts” on A&E, and the "Tony Awards". He has also been featured in the pages of numerous publications including "The New York Times", "Vogue", "Vanity Fair", "New York Magazine", and "Opera News". 
And in 2016 he was interviewed by "Opernnetz" and part of "Stars Live" in "Oper!Das Magazin".
